I’ve been reading a couple of these lately, the latest being on jennyinneverland.com, and I thought that (even though I’m not tagged to do this) I would do one as well. Recently I’ve also started re-watching the whole series, (I’m currently in the middle of the 2nd film) and therefore I’ve reminded myself how much I love the Harry Potter universe ! I mean I even have a custom made cloak and uniform. I think that that says enough.
There are a number of set questions that I’ll answer, but I thought that – because this isn’t the longest of tags – I would add some of my own questions or others that I find in random places on the internet. A lot of the information for the different topics is from Pottermore. Let’s begin.
What house are you in?
I’m going to say Griffindor, but the reason that I’m not a 100% like YEAH IM GRIFFINDOR GRIFFINDOR FOREVER is because, the first time I signed up to Pottermore, I barely knew any English. Therefore I’m pretty sure I just clicked on the answers that looked coolest in my eyes. I didn’t think about my answers is what I’m saying. So I got Slytherin. However, when I signed up again, and retested myself – I got Griffindor.
I also think that generally, my character definitely matches the Griffindor characteristics better. Plus – my horoscope sign is a lion. Therefore it must be Griffindor blood.
Also, can we just quickly talk about how the word ‘Griffindor’ is still considered an unknown word when typing on a laptop. It’s 2017 come on people !
What is your Patronus?
My patronus is a Tortoiseshell Cat. Now, at first I was like WHAT is this creature that has never appeared in ANY of the books, but then I read into it. I based it mostly on the Manx Cat Patronus, as mine wasn’t anywhere. SO, it said that
- Usually calm under pressure -> TRUE (my closest friends know that I literally don’t stress over anything.. They find it quite annoying but fascinating (: )
- Good in difficult situations -> TRUE
- Nothing will phase a conjurer of this Patronus – good to have on your side when in bother -> KIND OF TRUE
- Fierce to those on the wrong side of them and fiercely loyal to allies -> YEP
What is your wand?
- Works best for someone that understands and can manage their emotions
- Others need to be careful with this wand, if its owner has recently lost their temper
- The wand will absorb that energy and discharge it unpredictably
- It is capable of outstanding magic in the hands of the skilful
- So devoted to its owner that it often refuses to perform at the end of its master’s life
- Unique ability to detect water underground, and will emit silvery puffs of smoke if passing over concealed springs
- Produces the most consistent magic (least subject to blockages)
- The most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts.
- The most faithful of all wands, remain strongly attached to their first owner
- They do not make the most powerful wands
14 ¼” in length :
- These are exceptionally rare.
- However, abnormally short wands usually select those in whose character something is lacking, rather than because they are physically undersized (OH WOAW)
What is your favourite quote ?
My favourite quote from the books is “I am what I am, an’ I’m not ashamed. ‘Never be ashamed,’ my ol’ dad used ter say, ‘there’s some who’ll hold it against you, but they’re not worth botherin’ with.” This is because I feel that this quote is so incredibly relatable and can be applied to all aspects of life – even in the muggle world. Thanks for being so inspirational !
But I also really like the basic “You’re A Wizard, Harry”. WHICH ACTUALLY, isn’t that basic. You know where all of the events in all of the books stemmed off of. Yeah, that very sentence Hagrid said to Harry in the lighthouse. So thank you Hagrid for being so blunt in that way (:
I’ve noticed, Hagrid is literally a poet.
Would you rather A) wash Snape’s hair or B) spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself ?
I would rather spend a day listening to Lockhart. It’s because, if I were to just look at him talking about himself, I feel like I would just find it really amusing and entertaining to look at. Because I imagine it would look absolutely stupid and ridiculous. But – washing Snape’s hair would just gross me out. And I’d rather be laughing all day than being on the verge of vomiting whilst washing the hair of a person that would probably expel me for doing it wrong.
If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?
It would be either Fred Weasley or Sirius Black.
The reason why I would bring Fred back is because I see him and George as such an iconic duo, that can accomplish everything together, that if there’s only one – I feel like the importance of George would just fade.
And then you have Sirius. He dies in HP and the Order of the Phoenix, which is quite far into the series. At that point, most people would have formed a type of soulmate relationship with Harry, right ? So therefore, if his only family member dies, after all he’s been through, I imagine everyone would just feel like a piece of their own soul has just been ripped out. In short – I simply feel bad for Harry that he doesn’t have any real family members left.
What would your boggart be?
So a boggart is an ‘evil or mischievous spirit’ huh ? I don’t know, It think it might be something like… Being able to enter Voldemort’s base and discuss all the plans about his attacks and stuff. I DONT KNOW I’M NOT EVIL OKAY.
What position would you play in Quiddich?
I think I would be quite good at being a seeker. I’m quite good at being quick and paying attention to the smallest of things – like a golden snitch. Also, you don’t have to really pay attention to the game that is happening around you, because the only thing you have to be focused on is catching the snitch. That will be great for my lack or sport knowledge (:
Would you be a pure-blood, half-blood or muggle born?
Well, the ideal for me would be to just be muggle born, and then be amazing enough at magic to be able to be accepted into the magical world. But I don’t know, maybe I would be a pureblood. Yes, I think either completely on the muggle side, or completely on the magical side.
What job would you want to have after leaving Hogwarts?
Since having watched the movie ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’, I imagine I would be pretty interested in helping, saving and collecting magical creatures from all over the world. I’m already in love with all animals in the muggle-world, so just imagine if I got to meet a whole other collection of magical species on the side !
I definitely don’t think I would do anything where my magic was needed to fight or defend something. Or fight in magical wars (well I guess that that wouldn’t be avoidable but I could at least try to just go hide away with my creatures)
Which of the Deathly Hallows would you choose?
That’s a hard one, because they’ve all shown to kill. Uhh, I would probably choose the wand. Simply because I do not need a stone, and I feel like the cloak just isn’t needed. If I were to have the wand, it wouldn’t change my life too much from what it was before. If I had the cloak, however, I feel like I wouldn’t really find that many purposes for it – apart from running away from death of course.
What is your favourite book & film ?
My favourite book is absolutely 100% The Goblet Of Fire. I’m not going to discuss this too much, because I actually talked about all of this in blogpost I wrote, where I ranked all of the (books) and movies -> My Harry Potter Ranking
Least favourite book & film ?
My least favourite one at the moment is Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince. Once again -> blogpost.
Who is your favourite & least favourite character?
I definitely think that Albus Dumbledore is high up on the list, but if I were to choose a character which appears quite often I would have to say Ron Weasley.
The character that I dislike the most is Quirinus Quirrell, just because I find the way he straddles into any situation and just the way he appears everywhere quite annoying. Also the way he communicates through his awkward movements. Blurgh. And yes of course Umbridge, but if you forget that she teaches your favourite character for a second – she’s actually quite a powerful character with strong characteristics. I’ll shut up now (:
Do you have any unpopular opinions about the series ?
I wouldn’t say I have got any ‘completely unheard of opinions’, but one thought that I definitely stick with is that :
- The start of the series has a really powerful story line and all
- The middle of the series is kind of vague and confusing unless you REALLY dig into it and analyse every little bit (thank you SuperCarlinBrothers for explaining so many things I was confused about)
- The end of the series is kind of powerful with its storyline, but it’s mostly like BANG DEATHEATER HERE – BANG DEATHEATER THERE – SOME DEATHS – SOME FIGHTS – SOME ACTION – and then the movie’s over. I mean ?? It’s the truth though.
